100+ attend 20th Plant and Book Swap

Over 100 neighbors, friends, and lovers of gardening and reading from around town attended the 20th Cherrywood Plant and Book Swap on Saturday, October 18. It was a beautiful fall morning, and there were lots of special guests and activities to celebrate the 10th year of this biannual event.

There were two fun story times for little ones, and the American Gothic-inspired photo booth was hilarious. “Butterfly Weed (Asclepias Tuberosa) was handed out and hopefully will attract more butterflies to the neighborhood.’ Bill Jones and Trudy Redding won the raffle for a Martha Gonalez and Thomas Affleck rose bush.

The Travis County Master Gardeners, East Austin Compost Pedallers, and Cherrywood Urban Farm were friendly and helpful, and it was a pleasure to have them participate. Thanks to everyone who came out to the swap, to Amanda Braziel and Misha Blaise for reading some great books, to the Cherrywood Neighborhood Association and Sherri Whitmarsh for sponsoring the raffle, and to Friends of the Green (FROG) for creating and maintaining this wonderful space!
