CherryBiz Hosts Kick-off Party for Cherrywood E.A.S.T.

The Cherrywood Business Council hosted a kick-off party for the Cherrywood E.A.S.T. tour on Nov. 12, and despite the cold front 55 people came out to celebrate art in our corner of East Austin. It was a first-of-its kind opportunity for artists in the neighborhood to meet and network with each other, friends, and supporters.

Most of the 17 artists participating in this year’s East Austin Studio Tour attended and enjoyed the delicious refreshments catered by in.gredients. Many thanks to the Chula League and Cherrywood Neighborhood Association for sponsoring the party. CherryBiz’s goal is to support our neighborhood businesses, and I can’t think of a better way to inaugurate the new group!

The tour takes place this weekend and next, so check out the list of studios and make a plan for what you want to see. There’s photography, textiles, mosaics, illustrations, sculptures and jewelry in addition to lots of fine art. See the full list of studios with their addresses and websites, as well as a beautiful hand-drawn map courtesy of illustrator Caitlin Alexander, here.

A special thanks is due to Caitlin, who only recently moved to Duplex Nation and is a first-time participnat in E.A.S.T., for the initiative and drive it took to organize all the artists and produce promotional materials for the group. Cherrywood is lucky to have you!
