Cherrywood and Wilshire Wood Host Back-to-School Kids’ Swap

(cross-posted from upperboggycreek.org)

On the Sunday before A.I.S.D. classes started Cherrywood and Wilshire Wood/Delwood 1 neighbors hosted a back-to-school kids’ clothing and toy swap at Asbury Servant Church. Families were invited to bring outgrown items and take home something that was new to them. About 20 families participated and exchanged lots of clothing.

When the swap was over, there were 14 bags of clothing for newborns through middle schoolers left over which were donated to the Austin FreeStore. The FreeStore is a project of the Austin-area Methodist churches. It serves the city’s homeless population and working poor, and those who need a place to share their time and belongings.
