The first CherryWoodstock was organized in 2016 by Ryan Ofsthun and Wiccit as a way for neighbors to celebrate Cherrywood musicians. Primarily a DIY affair, the first event featured dozens of neighborhood musicians on a hand-built stage. About 50 neighbors attended the festival and gave it rave reviews.

After a one-year hiatus, CherryWoodstock returns and expands on the original concept. A team of eight neighbors have come together to organize and plan the lineup, logistics, and additional entertainment. In addition to musical acts there are opportunities for community artists of other mediums—visual, comedic, spoken word, and others—to participate. The celebration will also expand beyond the stage, with food trucks, booths for non-profit organizations, and entertainment for the kids. For neighborhood artists participating in EAST, there will be an opportunity to showcase a piece of art in order to attract visitors to their studios.

The organizing committee is still hard at work finalizing logistics, permits, and lineups. They will be seeking approval from neighbors in advance of the festival, and CherryWoodstock was on the CNA General Meeting agenda. In the meantime, Cherrywooders should plan to attend an event with great music, a friendly community vibe, and a few surprises. Get your picnic baskets ready and start preparing for some sweet, sweet Cherrywood music.
