CNA Quarterly Meeting Coming Up May 20

Hey all, the May quarterly meeting is just a week away.

Have you been planning to take your expired batteries, leftover paint and outdated or defunct electronics to the city’s hazardous waste collection facility?  You might want to put that on hold until we rollout the first phase of the new hazmat program at the meeting.

Do you ever wonder what your neighbors in other ‘hoods are up to?  Come to the meeting to learn about the wonderful ongoing work that is done in the Blackland neighborhood in housing and community development.

There will be announcements about other activities in and around the ‘hood like CherryBiz work with the Manor Road shops and restaurants, updates on developments in and around the ‘hood and a peek into future programs.

Speaking of announcements there are lot’s of fun activities going on all around us that I see posted on Neighbornet like chess for kids, s’mores parties and many more.  If you have organized an event and would like to let others know about it consider announcing it at the meeting.  Maybe leave a flyer for people to take home.

We will have a bit of business to dispose of too. One item is a vote on the 38 1/2 street ramp from I35, which btw is a proposal by TxDOT and is not set in stone. Another is to elect three new board members, so if you want to join the CNA v2015 Steering Committee, be prepared to throw your hat in the ring.

Other committees have room for you, too, so whether your interests are safety, health, development, transportation, farming and any and all things that make a village please join in on May 20 at Asbury Servant Church at the corner of 38 1/2 + Cherrywood Road.  The event starts at 6:30 p.m.  The agenda for the meeting will be posted on yard signs scattered throughout the ‘hood and also on the new community kiosk at Cherrywood Green.

In summary:

  • Hazmat rollout
  • I-35 ramp action
  • Fun for Hundreds updates and announcements
  • Possible incorporation of CNA as a nonprofit
  • . . .
  • and this quarter’s PROGRAM is a talk by our neighbor to the south, the Blackland Community Development Corporation

P.S.  The agenda will be posted on the Green Kiosk after its roof is raised so watch for it and the yard sign pop-ups coming soon to a corner near you.
