Gardeners, Bibliophiles and Math Geeks Gear Up for Spring Cherrywood Plant and Book Swap

The biannual Cherrywood Plant and Book Swap has been going strong for 10 years, and the 21st swap will take place this weekend on Pi Day, 3.14. To commemorate the occasion, neighbors are invited to clean out their garden beds and bookshelves and bring plants, books, and/or pie down to the Cherrywood Green on Saturday, March 14.

Stop by the pocket park at the corner of E. 34th St. and Cherrywood Rd. between 9 am and 12 noon., bring something to share, take something home to read or plant in your garden, and gobble up some pie on the spot.

Special guests include the Travis County Master Gardeners, Compost Pedallers, and Cherrywood Urban Patchw0rk Farm. The Maplewood Elementary School Ukelele Choir will perform at 11am. For updates, visit the Facebook event page.

For more info on Pi Day, visit www.nationalpiday.org. BTW, this will be an “Epic Pi Day,” which happens once every 100 years. We’d love to celebrate the moment when the calendar and clock correspond with the first 10 digits of pi, on 3.14.15 at 9:26:53. Geeky suggestions welcome!
