June 2014 Mueller Update

Written by Rick Krivoniak

Looks like the opening of the Torchy’s Tacos at 51st Street and Berkman Drive has been delayed until September. Designing, permitting and building a commercial kitchen are not fast processes.

At its May 22, 2014 meeting, the Austin City Council was anticipated to pass a resolution directing the City Manager to work with stakeholders to create a parking management district for the Mueller development. Catellus & consultant Nelson Nygaard, and the City’s Economic Development and Transportation Departments have been working for over 18 months on the parking issue for Mueller. The recommendation out of that work was to create a Parking & Transportation Management District that would implement, over time and as needed, various programs involving public & private/off-street parking coordination, on-street parking management, car & bike sharing, wayfinding & signage, metered parking with shared revenue, residential permit parking, and of course, parking enforcement.

“It’s Happening At Mueller,” the 2014 Community Report by Catellus is now available in print form at Mueller Central.

The next Robert Mueller Municipal Airport Plan Implementation Advisory Commission meeting is Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 6PM in Meeting Room 1 of the Carver Library, 1161 Angelina Street. Please send Mueller-related questions & comments to .
