TO: (Danny Thomas) danny.thomas@ci.austin.tx.us The Cherrywood Neighborhood Association supports the Yard Parking Ordinance, and votes to opt in. We're in 78722 (Map). Our motion passed 18 - 5 at a quarterly Membership Meeting January 18, 2002. Twenty-three attended. Our quorum is 20. The issue missed our quarterly newsletter in January but was publicized in advance by neighborhood e-mail circle (about 200 subscribers at the time, including almost everyone who regularly attends Association meetings). The debated question, in some 60 posted opinions, was whether to opt in out of out a proposed amendment to Chapter 16-5 of the City Code (in Draft 1 in January). We note this proposal is now in Draft 8. However, unchanged in the subsequent drafts is the principle we approved: "A person may not park a motor vehicle in the front yard or side yard of a residential property, except in a driveway." Sincerely, Bree Buchanan |
| (Aril 18, 2005) The provision on renewal was struck out of the No Parking in the Front Yard ordinance when it was amendment. The Council felt like it would be a high maintenance problem for both staff and neighborhood groups. Neighs. who applied through their association, would be on the books until the association decided to withdraw from the map. Then they would have to apply to be removed. Cherrywood came in as a neigh. association, and will be shown on the map as prohibiting parking. So, if no further action is done with UBC on this issue, Cherrywood boundaries would still remain on the map as prohibiting parking. If, however, other groups in the UBC area want this restriction, we would amend the plan to include the others but still show Cherrywood as well. == Ricardo Soliz < Ricardo.Soliz@ci.austin.tx.us > Transportation, Planning, and Sustainability Dept == |
