Meeting called to order at 6:50 PM by Vice Chair Meaghan Bludau

Members present

Reading of Agenda
Motion: To adopt agenda for 13 January 2016
Resolved: Agenda adopted as modified.

Approval of minutes
Motion: To approve minutes from 09 December 2015
Resolved: Minutes approved as read.

Reports
Treasurer
Mr. Dyke reported on behalf of Ms. Gropp that the current balance is $7,519.64 (report attached).

Music Festival committee
Mr. Ofsthun reported that a recent notice on Neighbornet announcing the idea of CherryWoodstock (attached) has produced very favorable feedback from the community, including bands who are interested in participating.

Mr. Wiccit showed a sketch of the poster he is developing to publicize the festival. He anticipates that it will be finished within the next two weeks, as well as a lineup of “yes” responses from bands.

Flea committee
Ms. Bludau reported that although there have been some difficulties in contacting some of the advertisers, ad sales and renewals are progressing satisfactorily.

4020 Airport update
Mr. Kinney briefed the board on the current status of the development. It will consist of 17 single family units. The project has not yet been cleared to start by the City.

 

Business

Digital billboards
Mr. Kinney briefed the board on developments at the City of Austin concerning digital billboards.

Motion from Mr. Ofsthun to adopt the following resolution: The CNA Steering Committee is concerned about testimony presented at the November 30 Public Safety Committee (agenda item 5) proposing the use of digital billboards in the city. The CNA Steering Committee resolves to

  1. send a representative to the January 28 Austin City Council meeting to express concern over the proposed amendment, or to a later meeting should the agenda item be postponed, and
  2. present a resolution at the February general meeting in opposition to digital billboards.

Resolved: Motion passed on consensus; chair appointed Ms. Schwartz as representative
