The “Committee Committee” Delivers Final Report

Mission and VisionAt its January meeting, the CNA Steering Committee accepted the final report of the Organizational Review Task Force, which was formed last summer to identify current and recent committees of the neighborhood association and to make recommendations to the Steering Committee about committee structure.

The “Committee Committee,” as the Task Force was informally dubbed, identified about thirty such committees, as well as the current membership of most of them.

One purpose of the effort is to end up with a definitive, current map of CNA committee work so that neighbors interested in participating more actively in the neighborhood association can tell right away what’s going on and where they might make the best contribution of their time, energy and interests.

The report’s recommendations include the keeping of a current written record of committees, their members, and their purposes; the creation of certain standing committees, while consolidating others; and amending bylaws to set more realistic requirements for neighborhood meeting announcements.

Steering Committee members voted to come back at the next meeting with specific proposals for implementing recommendations in the report. Some of the recommendations, if implemented, would be presented to the May quarterly meeting for a vote by the general membership.

About Terry Dyke

I live in the old yellow house on Robinson with Marilyn Fenn, my wonderful and talented wife. A Cherrywood citizen since 2002, I've enjoyed neighborhood life, helping organize Film Night, instigating our neighborhood urban farm, and more recently, joining the CNA Steering Committee. I'm interested in energy and climate issues, and local resilience as a response to them. I also write about them on my blog.
