Cherrywood Neighborhood is one of the six neighborhoods contained in the Upper Boggy Creek (“UBC”) Neighborhood Plan, which is responsible for the Future Land Use Map (“FLUM”). Information about the UBC can be found HERE. UBC meetings occur quarterly.

The process in Cherrywood with respect to the Cherrywood Neighborhood Association (“CNA”) position on issues is normally as follows:

Land Use and Transportation

The Land Use and Transportation (“LUT”) Committee regularly meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:15pm at Taqueria Los Altos (Edgewood @ IH35). LUT does not have the authority to approve anything except to make recommendations to the CNA Steering Committee the following week.

CNA Steering Committee

The CNA Steering Committee (“SC”) meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm at the Fannie Mae Conservatory (1900 E 22nd St). The SC represents the CNA at public hearings whenever issues are unable to be brought to the quarterly General Meetings.

CNA General Meetings

CNA General Meetings occur quarterly on the 3rd Wednesday of February, May, August, and November, usually at the Servant Church Fellowship Hall (1605 E 38th 1/2 St.) The General membership votes on land use and transportation issues whenever possible.

A resolution from the SC or the General Meeting results in two things:

  • The Cherrywood Reps to UBC are instructed to vote at UBC representing the neighborhood position. When there is no neighborhood position, the reps may vote their conscience.

  • The Cherrywood Neighborhood will send a letter to the Planning Commission and City Council recording the recommendation on the case.
