The Cherrywood Neighborhood Association’s quarterly meeting will be Wednesday, August 15, at 6:30 PM at Servant Church, on the corner of 38 1/2 and Cherrywood Rd., at the cross section of our neighborhood.
We have two guest speakers next week.
Adrienne Clark of Austin Animal Center will give a presentation about wildlife in the neighborhood, including the growing presence of coyotes. More can be found here.
Smart Trips will make a presentation as well as table at the meeting with literature and follow up questions. A little blurb about them follows.
Smart Trips Eastside, a sustainable transportation options program on which City of Austin and Capital Metro are working together. It aims to encourage Austin neighborhoods to walk, bike, ride the bus, and share rides, rather than drive alone.
The CherryWoodstock team has been moving ahead with their music and art festival planned for Patterson Park in Nov of this year. We plan on voting on a financial measure for the CNA to cover the purchased insurance of the event.
The Land, Use and Transportation Committee will provide us with the latest happenings in the ‘hood, and we are very thankful for their participation and watchful eye. Jim Walker of the Steering Committee will provide an update on the September candidate forum for the November election.
We have a lot of moving parts, and a lot of volunteers active right now. I encourage you to come (and bring a neighbor) to our quarterly meeting, and I can attest as an active volunteer, is much appreciated. We often linger over to Cherrywood Coffeehouse after the meeting for a celebratory beer as well, which is another opportunity to get to know your neighbors.
Best regards,
Jim Reed, CNA Chair
